Feels like I'm on a treadmill since I got home

Thanks to all of you who stopped by Friday & Saturday to tour my TreeHouse during the Village's Annual Garden Walk. It was the last time it will be on tour because I plan to relocate back to New York City in the near future. At the moment here is where things stand. Manatee Children's Services, my lovely tenants in the former bakery building fronting on 12th St, will be vacating at the end of April. That means that I'll either be selling or renting both buildings once I determine when & where I'm moving to. Until that happens, I'm entertaining all possibilities. I plan to continue baking through May, at least.

Imagine my surprise when hours before I left on my trip to Maryland two weeks ago, I opened a letter to discover a Jury Summons. By the time you read this I will have reported to the courthouse today at 8am (grrrrrr). After sitting around until 11:30am, our group was told to return at 3pm for possible jury selection.

When I returned I was thanked for my service and released. Yahoo, that means that I'll be able to bake this week! This is such a gift for me, having been out of the kitchen for 2 weeks.

Just before I left town I spent one evening with friends on a 90 minute fundraising cruise around Anna Maria sponsored by the Friends of DeSoto Memorial. It was a very relaxed & congenial time, with snacks & wine available, under the capable command of Captain Sherman Baldwin of Paradise Boat Tours

He joyfully shared his vast knowledge of wild life in the Bay as we glided along under the bridge, where cars were frozen in traffic. The sky was clear & the sunset that evening was spectacular.
Their next fundraising sunset cruise of Sarasota Bay with Paradise Boat Tours leaves from the Historic Bridge Street Pier in Bradenton Beach at 7:30pm on May 16. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased online via their website at www.friendsofdesoto.org

For other Paradise Boat Tours contact the captain at (941) 465-8624 or at www.toursrq.com

Now that things went smoothly & quickly at the courthouse, here's what I plan to bake this week.

THIS WEEK'S MENU     Pick-up  Fri  April 10   1-5 pm

THE BIG COOKIE    $1.50
Each cookie has its own personality & unique flavor profile. Some are seductive, using the allure of Belgium chocolate to get your attention. Others invoke memories of childhood or a less complicated time. Find your match amongst Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, Orange Walnut Belgium Bittersweet Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate ChipSnickerdoodlePecan Coconut Belgium Milk Chocolate.

CHOCOLATE ORGASM COOKIES     $5/pkg
My legendary chocolate delivery system made with melted Belgium bittersweet chocolate throughout, toasted fresh almonds, chocolate chips & very little flour. Sold in packages of 4 because you must have more than one.

BLUEBERRY LEMON MUFFIN      $2
A BONNI BAKES all-time favorite, this buttery muffin carries the flavor of fresh lemons throughout and is punctuated by big juicy blueberries that burst in your mouth. YUM!

LEMON CHEESE BRAID    $3/slice
The sweetened cream cheese filling is topped with homemade lemon curd, then embraced by a tender yeast dough. Makes a delicious addition to breakfast, brunch or as a snack with a cup of something wonderful.

CHOCOLATE TOFFEE MATZOH CRUNCH    $5/pkg
The best thing that every happened to Passover. Kosher-for-Passover matzoh topped with a layer of homemade caramel + bittersweet Belgium chocolate + toasted sliced almonds. Who needs cake?

SWEET POTATO & CHEVE GALETTE     $4.50
A personal sized open faced pie made with my buttery hand crafted pastry. Filled with roasted sweet potatoes, caramelized Vidalia onions & creamy goat cheese. Satisfying enough to be a light meal for one, or shared as a side dish.

MINORCAN MULTI-GRAIN   (VEGAN)     $4.50/loaf
Inspired years ago by a loaf I had while visiting Minorca. This crusty boule boasts over 8 grains and seeds throughout its tender crumb. The complex flavors are brought out by toasting. I love it with a steaming bowl of oatmeal & as my go-to sandwich bread.
